Single-Point Focus Drill

A short attention exercise to strengthen concentration and reduce distractibility.

By Sunvior Editorial Team · Updated June 11, 2026

Why single-point focus helps

Training your attention on a single object — like the breath, a candle flame, or a small visual anchor — increases the ability to return to a task when distracted.

Practice

Choose one anchor and set a short timer. When attention drifts, notice and gently return to the anchor.

  • Choose an anchor
  • Set a 5-minute timer
  • Return gently when distracted

Guided practice

Follow the steps below. Start runs a timer when exact timing is provided; otherwise, use the controls to step through manually.

  1. 1.
Pick an anchor (breath or object)
  2. 2.
    Set a 5-minute timer
  3. 3.
    Notice distraction, return to anchor
